Our Hospital Stay

Our stay at the hospital was definitely a whirlwind. Mommy was hurting and doped up on pain meds, we had tons of visitors coming to see you and some of the nurses were making Mommy mad. I knew from the very start what I wanted to happen and not happen at the hospital. I did not want the nurses to give you formula or pacifiers until I had breastfeeding down to a tee. On our second night in the hospital one nurse came and took you out of our room, and unbeknownst to Mommy, gave you a bottle. The nurse got back with you at about 7:00 a.m. and Mommy was PISSED when she found out she gave you a bottle. That morning I decided right then and there I was going to get up and walk 10 miles if I had to in order to be released that day. Usually they make you stay 3-4 days because of the c-section. Mommy got her way, we went home that night :) Boy was I nervous about taking you home and into the real world. Daddy must have hit every bump in the road possible on the way home. BTW, riding in the car after a c-section, no fun. But, you’ll never have to experience that!
That first night home was pretty scary. I was up and down all night. You were sleeping in the bassinet by our bed. It was so hard to get in and out of bed because of the surgery. Every time you made a peep I would jump up and take you across the house into your room. I would rock you and feed you and then change your diaper. By the time I got you back into your bed, it seemed like only minutes before we were back in your room repeating everything. It took me a few nights before I got the hang of things- like making sure you were pointed down so you didn’t pee all over your clothes and I would have to change you. I was too afraid to feed you in bed because you were so tiny. Believe it or not you barely fit into newborn clothes when we left the hospital.
