Week 1 10/24/11

The first week you were home was pretty interesting. We had lots of visitors during the day helping Mommy. Your great grandparents were at the house pretty much every day to see you, help clean and bring Mommy some food. Bella and Granny would stop by and would literally sit with you in their arms for hours. I was still taking lots of medicine and not sleeping at night had me feeling pretty out of it during the day. I love love love to sleep so that was a bit of an adjustment for me. It was very hard to sleep during the day when you were napping just knowing that someone was at the house. On the Sunday after you came home (you came home on a Wednesday night), your Grandpa Stan and Grammy came over to cook us some steaks. At about 8:00 you and I went to the bedroom to go to bed. All of a sudden I had the most terrible migraine that I’ve ever experienced. It just came out of nowhere and brought tears to my eyes. I called the doctor’s office and they told me to get to the hospital immediately. Talk about freaking out. We called Bella and Papa to come over and watch you while we went. The ride back to the hospital was way worse than the one home from the c-section. When we got there they checked my blood pressure and pretty much admitted me within minutes. I got very emotional about having to be checked in and stay the night. I did not want to spend the night away from my 6 day old baby, who was breastfeeding. My crying only made the blood pressure worse and they kept reminding me to calm down. Come to find out, I developed preeclampsia after birth. It is very rare and most of the times can be fatal because people don’t know that it can even happen. The doctor told me it was a very good thing that I had called and came in. I was there until Tuesday morning. I was so so upset that I couldn’t be home with you. Bella and Tata brought you up and had to sit there so that I could see you. They would not let me keep you by myself. NOT how I wanted to start my first week with my beautiful baby boy. I’m only grateful that I scheduled the c-section for one week before your due date and this came on after you were born. Otherwise, it could’ve been dangerous to you. When I came out of the hospital I had lost 16 lbs though from all the water I had been retaining during the pregnancy!! That was pretty nuts haha.
You did lots of sleeping

Austin & Koda
Koda was pretty confused at first with this little baby and the weird noises he would make. She would often be near him, but never touching him or too close.

1st doctor’s checkup
You pretty much gained back all the weigh you had lost when leaving the hospital (thanks to Mommy's super boobs)
